Wyandotte County Out of School Time Community Conversation

Students today live in a world of rapid technological change in which the best jobs and most promising careers increasingly require a solid background in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and strong "21st Century Skills " such as teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity. Unfortunately, recent studies suggest that few students have the skills that they'll need to succeed in the new economy. Athought the schools clearly have a big part to play, we can't expect them to "do it all." What can the Wyandotte County community do to remain competitive in the new global economy? Can we look to out of school and after school programs as a resource for ensuring that our kids are learning the things that count? Are there enough programs available and can parents access them?

Representatives from key Wyandotte County community organizations have joined together to host a Community Conversation on improving STEM learning and access to out of school programs.  Come together with other concerned citizens to dine and discuss how our community can help provide and promote these important issues.
